Overview

The AALogic Phone Line Interface (PLI) provides a passive audio interface between a phone line connected to the RJ11 connector and the 3.5mm audio jack. The phone line connection can be made to a telephone line or other device with an RJ11 connector. The audio jack is an interface suitable for connection to recording device, such as a PC, or audio amplifier.

The PLI was designed to allow recording of modem audio from Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) lines. The audio can then be used to analyze data communications problems. The audio can also be played back into an Analog Data Monitor (ADMpc or ADM2400) to see the communications data information.

The PLI can be used to record any audio from a phone line subject to the frequency response limitations of the PLI.

The PLI requires no power from the phone line or other external sources. This means the PLI can be used in a wide range of line conditions including those where no DC voltage is present.

Connection

The PLI includes a standard phone line cable with RJ11 connectors on each end. An audio cable with 3.5mm plugs on each end is also included.

PLI Cables

Connect either end of the provided cables to the PLI. Connect the other end of the phone cable to the phone line. This may be a wall plate, T-adapter, or a connector on a test device.

Connect the other end of the audio cable to the recording device or other audio device.
